Gyotoku Bird Sanctuary

Gyotoku Bird Observatory in the city of Ichikawa, Chiba. I was surprised to find out that I last visited there four whole years ago.

The observatory and park is comprised of 83 hectares of land specially designated as a protected area for birds.

The wisteria were tangled rather haphazardly onto the trees, but they smelled wonderful.

It seems many of the locals like to visit the park to walk their dogs rather than watch birds. Since the park is a bird observatory and sanctuary, you can't get too close to the birds.

If you really want to do some bird-spotting, you need good binoculars and a zoom camera, and some patience...as well as quick reflexes when you finally spot a bird.

An awful lot of injured coromants.
