The Cherry Blossoms along Sumida River

Taken from Eitaibashi (Eitai Bridge.) As my mom says every spring, you never notice a tree until you realize it's a cherry tree. You can see lines of pale pink where the flowers are blooming.

A closer look at the trees in question.

The street that curves alongside the river is also in full bloom.

Unlike a lot of flowers, cherry blossoms don't wait until they're shriveled to fall to the ground.

The ephemerality of the cherry blossoms are their chief appeal: just one day later, the flower had shrunk to almost nothing.
