A Summation of Dentistry in Japan

A dentist's office in Naha, Okinawa.

The busted teeth and ratty toothbrush really say something about Japan's attitude toward dentistry: not a priority. After all, this is a culture that considers it cute when a girl has a snaggletooth. I wonder if that is simply a standard of beauty that is different from the West, or an attitude adopted in reaction to the fact that orthodontic treatment is too expensive for most people to afford.
