Honmonji Temple, Part 2


Honmonji Temple, continued. 

Pigeons take a drink out of the water basin where visitors purify their hands. 


 The bell tower. The bell on the left is was burned and damaged during the War. 


The five-story pagoda, built in 1608, has been designated as an important cultural property of Japan. According to the website, the pagoda has been reinforced to withstand a magnitude seven earthquake.

It stands in the center of the cemetery area.



The pagoda features three animals on each side, featuring the twelve animals of the zodiac.
