Ikegami Ume-en

Ikegami Ume-en, a public park with a large collection of ume (plum) trees.

The park has about 370 ume trees, but when I visited a couple of weeks ago, the flowers had mostly finished blooming.

We saw a lot of this.

Anticipating our disappointment, the man at the ticket booth let us in for free. (It is ordinarily 100 yen for adults.)

Although we couldn't see entire trees in bloom, we still got to see quite a few pretty flowers.

One of the park's three tea rooms.

A group of men playing go.

A wild pigeon.

Sumomo (Japanese plum) flowers.

Apparently these wooden planks had only been laid down the year before.
