Third Street Promenade on Labor Day

On my walk from the Santa Monica Pier to the Third Street Promenade, a looooong stream of cyclists passed me by.

British iconography in LA.

The mismatched time on these clocks drove me crazy. How blue and how beautiful is that sky?

I could recognize that face everywhere. Unfortunately, this was not a sequel to Ghost World.

This woman had the thinnest, hugest hoops in her ears, and was gorgeous to boot.

Baby cacti.
A Japanese want ad in LA, with some specific requirements that will probably make hiring easy for them:

-Someone who is looking for a new experience.
-Someone who is a little interested in cooking.
-Someone who is in need of money.
-Someone who is energetic, motivated, and friendly.

Dinosaurs line the Promenade, for some stylistic reason.

A Walk on Santa Monica Beach

I visited Los Angeles in early September, and stayed in the Santa Monica area. With the beach, the roller coasters, and the Promenade close by, it certainly feeds all LA fantasies.

When I first saw this man, I thought he was looking for a hidden land mine.

Outdoor showering turned into a show.

I love public chess spaces. Unfortunately, it was only 7:00am.

Chess pieces caged in like animals at the zoo.

What looks like giant feet from afar...

...are birds, perched on the pelicans. Perhaps this was not the intended effect.

Exit to the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. Their official video is unexpectedly set to Grizzly Bear's "Deep Blue Sea".

The Santa Monica Pier at sunset, which made everyone's heart melt.

Bird Control, Santa Monica Style

The four installment in my pest control series. While it is amusing to see the measures adopted by different countries, it is also alarming to see city spaces being uglified in this way. The spray of wire sitting atop the light pole is nothing short of comical.

Dedicated to the Ferris Wheel

The Santa Monica Pier, at the perfect hour.

The lack of precautions on this Ferris Wheel was oddly refreshing. There is nothing barring you from taking a swan dive out of the seat but your sanity.

Slowly watching the sun set.

The town gets more and more twinkly before your very eyes. It's 5 dollars for a 10 minute ride. Go at the right time, and the whole experience is priceless.

To Japanese people, Domo-kun is synonymous with NHK, the totally square state-owned public broadcasting organization. It's nice to know that he is something completely different to American audiences.
