People-watching in Annecy

The interest is in not so much the human than the dog.

A comfortable-looking hammock swing.

The baguette sticking out is a quintessentially French touch.

The man was dumping the recycling underground, which makes me curious about the city's system.

La Plage d'Annecy

This is the sight that greets you from the nearby Imperial while you're working. Annecy International Animated Film Festival began a little later than in earlier years, so the beach that is usually closed was packed with sunbathers.

I have always wanted to go on this slide. Check the splash!

Parc Charles Bosson Bird Sanctuary

The bird sanctuary right in front of the Imperial. There used to be more of them scattered throughout the town, but a couple years ago they gathered all the birds into this large space here.

Annecy International Animated Film Festival

MIFA is Marché international du film d'animation, the market that is held in conjunction with the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

The market is held in a series of huge temporary tents at the Imperial.

The shuttle bus always features a film showing at the festival.

Despicable Me 2 received a huge push.

I wish I could have seen this up close: a Despicable Me 2 air balloon!

Monsters University was the opening film, and Pixar held a lakeside barbecue party.

Night screenings of contemporary films are held in the field near the lake.

The welcome tent for the film festival, which was held in the multiplex at the mall this year.
